Owl's Roost Rich and Grace on a beautiful day in Owl's Roost Date/Time: Sun 18 Nov 2007 11:16:03 AM MST Sunday, 11/17. We headed out to meet up with a scheduled group ride at Owl's Roost, but nobody was there. So, we just rode by ourselves. The day was stunning, sunny and clear with temps in the mid-60s. North Carolina even looks like it's near peak fall foliage color, something pretty much long gone at home in PA.

You can carry a bunch of speed going down and then ride up the other side, but there's a bit of a hole at the bottom of the downhill part, so we usually go a little slower and have to climb out.

Severe weather advisory Got a weather warning advisory while working on the pictures Date: 11/18/2007 While I was working on the pictures you see in this gallery, I had a severe weather advisory pop up... I found it funny, considering it's sunny and warm outside, to read this:

SNOW AND RAIN WILL CONTINUE TO FALL TODAY. TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN IN THE LOW TO MID 30S THROUGH THE REST OF THE AFTERNOON. ACCUMULATIONS UP TO TWO INCHES ARE POSSIBLE...MAINLY ON GRASSY SURFACES AND IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS.

Sounds like we picked a good time to not be at home.
Santa Cruces ready to go Our bikes before a ride Date: 11/22/2007 Rich's bike, Grace's bike, and mine, (foreground to background) waiting for us to get ready to ride. We rode out to Country Park, did one loop, then took the greenway out to Owl's Roost where we did a full out and back. All said and done, we rode about 20-25 miles, with at least 15 being off-road. Good stuff!
